Give the widget one clear job
FishPal’s release history includes a home-screen widget for quick access to the latest logs. Its practical value is reducing the distance between remembering a trip and reviewing the entry. Choose a place on your home screen where it supports that habit. The widget does not need to become another source of distraction; it can simply remind you to finish the record while the details are still familiar.
Add it using the options on your device
On iPhone, Apple’s widget instructions start by touching and holding an empty area of the Home Screen, then choosing Edit, Add Widget, an available widget and size, and Add Widget. Look for FishPal among the available apps. Use the widget controls offered on your iPad if that is where you keep the log. The exact placement and presentation depend on your device, operating system, and installed app version. Review the widget choices that are actually offered instead of expecting a particular layout or size. If FishPal is not listed, open the installed app and check its current support information before assuming a widget is available in that setup.
Use the shortcut for a small correction
When you revisit a recent log, make one useful improvement: confirm a species suggestion, add the lure you used, or explain why you changed locations. A short correction made while the outing is fresh can be more useful than a long reconstruction much later. Keep uncertainty visible, especially if you did not measure the fish or cannot remember a detail. Quick access helps with consistency; it does not make an incomplete memory more accurate.
Keep visible information appropriate to your screen
Check what the installed widget actually displays. Consider whether photos or location-related context on a shared or frequently visible screen suit your preferences. Then build a simple rhythm: log during the outing when practical, revisit the latest entry afterward, and review the trip before returning to the water. The widget is the doorway to that routine. Read the post-trip review guide for a wider habit and use photo logging to start the next entry.
Privacy, source, and availability
Fishing records are private by default. Optional live trip sharing is a separate choice for letting friends or family follow an outing.
Checked against the FishPal App Store listing and release history on October 29, 2026, with version 1.1.3 listed. Features and available data depend on the installed version, permissions, and plan. The listing places advanced spot and waterbody analysis, deeper insights, and expanded tracking within Premium. Check the installed app for exact feature access; the listing does not specify every free allowance. Download FishPal and review the options shown in the app.
